UNITED IN SERVICE

Elder Dolby Knott

The Illinois Adventist Prison Ministry Organization (IAPMO), also known in the prisons as Prisoners of Hope Project, has been holding the annual Fellowship Awards Dinner for over 25 years. This dinner is given to recognize our brothers and sisters who have contributed to creating a better society. The dinner creates an atmosphere of love, joy, celebration and, appreciation for one another, including returning citizens, church members, politicians, etc.; thus the term, “Fellowship”.

This year the banquet was held at the Belvedere Chateau located at 8055 West 103rd Street in Palos Hills, Illinois 60465 on Sunday October 27th. Our time of fellowship and greeting begin around 3PM. The program started promptly at 4PM with recognitions and awards, with Sis. Dollie Williams receiving the Prison Mistry Lifetime Achievement Award for over 60 years of service in the ministry areas of Community Service, Prison and Church Ministry. The awards were followed by a message from our keynote speaker, Dr. Charles Wesley Knight, Assistant Professor of Preaching and Ministry at Oakwood University. Once we were spiritually feed, we were served a delicious meal catered by our hosts at the Belvedere Chateau.

Special appreciation is expressed to Emmanuel (Chicago Heights), Morgan Park (Chicago) and Shalem (Waukegan) for consistently sponsoring tables for over 15 years. The Chicagoland Prison Ministry Network has been functioning for over 27 years and pride ourselves on being united in Christ.

From Milwaukee to the North, Chicago Heights to the South and LaGrange-Brookfield to the West, IAPMO will continue to work hand-in-hand with all  churches, providing services to the inmates and their families.

Prison Ministry is multifaceted. Prison and jail visitation are not the only Prison Ministry works that need to be done. If you are interested in any area of Prison Ministry, please call the Lake Region Conference office, (773) 846-2661, or email us at lrcpm@lrcsda.com.
